(KMOV.com) – An East St. Louis man was charged with first degree murder following an alleged armed robbery at a pawn shot in East St. Louis on Saturday morning.
The following information is a press release from the Illinois State Police.
On August 29, 2011, St. Clair County States Attorney Brendan Kelly charged Gregory Muse, age 53, of East St. Louis, Illinois, with First Degree Murder for the death of Correy B. Ransom, age 34, of East St. Louis.
On Saturday, August 27, at approximately 10:00 a.m. Muse and Ransom are alleged to have committed an armed robbery of the Pawn Pros pawn shop, 1115 State Street, East St. Louis, Illinois.
During the robbery, Ransom was shot by an employee of the pawn shop and died at the scene. Muse was arrested shortly after the shooting, near the pawn shop, by East St. Louis Police.
Bond on the arrest warrant was set at one million dollars. Muse remains in custody.
The firearm used by the pawn shop employee to defend against the alleged robbery was lawfully possessed and no charges are anticipated on the pawn shop employee.
