EAST ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Police have charged the driver of a pickup truck that hit and killed a 45-year-old woman as she crossed the street with her daughter in East St. Louis on September 19.

Justin Jordan, 31, has been charged with failure to report an accident involving death and reckless homicide.

Police said Jordan was speeding in the wrong lane at the intersection of Louisiana and 25th Street around 12:15 p.m. when he blew through a stop sign and hit Yvette Hart.

She was walking to a convenience store with her daughter, 23-year-old Latoya Johnson, when the incident happened.

Authorities arrested Jordan after they located an early-90s model Ford F-150 with extended cab pick-up, which matched the description of the vehicle involved in the wreck. The truck also had heavy front end damage.

Jordan’s bond was set at $100,000.

Hart was a mother of four who worked as a supervisor of housekeeping in the Edward Jones Dome. She had 19 grandchildren.
