MADISON COUNTY, Illinois – Authorities are asking for the public’s help finding two suspects wanted for stealing from multiple Walmarts in the Metro East.

Deputies said a male suspect and a woman in a wheelchair stole laptops from Walmarts in Godfrey and Highland.

Authorities said in both incidents the suspects were seen driving to and from the store in a gold-colored Chevrolet Impala.

Deputies said the man is about 35 years old and has medium-length brown hair and a mustache.

The female is also about 35 years old and has dark hair and a small build.  It is not known if the woman is actually handicapped, but police say the bandits are exploiting the wheelchair either way.

“Individuals involved in criminal activity will stop at nothing to get away with their acts,” Captain Mike Dixon, Madison County Sheriff’s Department, said.  “And they will exploit the most vulnerable of all of us and they would not hesitate to portray themselves as handicapped to get ahead in life.”

Anyone with information on the suspects’ whereabouts is asked to call the Madison County Sherriff’s Office at 618-296-3000.
