(KMOV) – An employee of an assisted-living facility in south St. Louis County is accused of stealing prescription sleeping pills from the business.

Regina Curcio, 52, was charged with stealing a controlled substance.

According to court documents, Curcio was working as a medical technician at Delmar Gardens South in the 5300 block of Butler Hill Rd. when the incidents occurred.

Police said Curcio was not authorized when she signed four separate deliveries of Ambien and Restoril. She then stole the medicine once they were delivered, according to police.

Court documents showed Curcio denied stealing the medicine, but claims she destroyed one shipment of pills at the direction of a physician.

Her bond was set at $10,000.
