(KMOV.com) – Former St. Clair County Judge Michael Cook could be facing more prison time than what prosecutors are recommending.

Prosecutors are requesting that Cook serve 18 months but the judge overseeing the case may hand down a longer sentence. The judge said there are a number of things to consider including the number of cases Cook presided over as a judge and the amount of time he was using heroin before he sought treatment.

Cook pleaded guilty to gun and heroin charges in November after Judge Joe Christ died from a drug overdose. Cook is scheduled to be sentenced in February.
