(KMOV.com) – Three 17-year-old suspects have been charged in connection with three December armed robberies in Collinsville which happened after victims answered Craigslist ads about a television for sale.
Devonte Marshall was charged with two counts of armed robbery, one count of attempted armed robbery and one count of aggravated battery. Maurice Morris faces charges of attempted armed robbery and aggravated battery, while Garrett Babb was charged with armed robbery. A fourth suspect has also been arrested and is currently being held at the Collinsville Police Department.
According to police, on Dec. 17 the victim was meeting with another man to purchase a television at an apartment in the 50 block of Brookhill Ct. when he was hit in the head with a wooden baseball bat.
The suspect demanded the victim’s money and fled with an undetermined amount of cash. Police were investigating whether there was more than one suspect involved.
According to police, the victim suffered a head injury but refused to be transported to the hospital.
Police say the attack came two days after a similar incident occurred at the same residence. In that case, the victim was also meeting to purchase a television.
On Dec. 22, the victim saw a Craigslist ad for a television and agreed to meet the seller in front of an apartment complex in the 200 block of Sandridge Dr. When the victim arrived he recognized the person he had been communicating with by the description from the ad.
When the victim got out of his vehicle, the suspect pulled a gun and demanded money. After robbing him, the suspect fled the scene.
Police believe Marshall was involved in all three robberies, while Morris and Babb are connected to at least one of them.
Information on the fourth suspect was not available.
