(KMOV)-- An Illinois Department of Corrections Parole Agent conducted a parole compliance check of Jerry D. Roof and discovered seven grams of cocaine.

During the compliance check the parole agent located a loaded firearm and requested the assistance of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office before further investigation. The sheriff’s office responded to the home to aid the officer.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office took custody of the firearm and cocaine while Roof was transported to the Madison County Jail where he was held pending a formal review of facts by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office.

The felony warrant and information was signed by the Honorable Judge Keith Jensen, who set bond at $75,000.00.
