Clerk holds suspect at gunpoint after $7 stolen from Jefferson Co. store

(KMOV) – Authorities are crediting a convenience store clerk with thwarting a robbery attempt in House Springs Tuesday morning.

According to police, Gerald Brown, 26, walked into the Raetta Quick Stop in the 4780 block of Raetta Ln. around 9:45 and displayed a handgun.

He then took $7 from the clerk and left the store. Police said that’s when the clerk grabbed his own gun and held the suspect until police arrived.

Authorities said he was taken into custody and officers recovered the stolen cash and his gun. 

Gerald Brown was charged with armed criminal action, first-degree robbery and felony stealing. He is being held at the Jefferson County Jail with a $50,000 cash-only bond.
