Charges filed against suspects who tried to swim away from police after chase

(KMOV.com) – Suspects who tried swim away from police after allegedly burglarizing a home were charged Thursday.

Jarrell Beckman, 32, Myron Davis, 31, Johnny Hughes, 22, and Christopher Watson, 32, were all charged with first degree burglary. Beckman was also charged with second degree narcotics possession and with resisting arrest.

Authorities said a grandmother and her granddaughter found the four suspects trying to burglarize her home in the 2400 block of Center Drive in Jennings Wednesday.

Police told News 4 the four suspects fled, but two were quickly caught in Jennings. Authorities said the other two led them on a chase into Illinois that ended near a series of lakes in Fairmont City.

The two suspects abandoned their car near the junction of Interstate 70 and Highway 111 before they jumped in a lake, and tried to swim away from police.

According to authorities, the two suspects were arrested after tiring out. Police said they found 70 pounds of marijuana in their vehicle.
