(KMOV.com) – Caseyville police chief Jose Alverez was charged with disorderly conduct and battery following an outburst at a public meeting in Feb.

The Belleville News Democrat posted a three minute video to YouTube which shows the outburst.

In the video, Alverez is seen arguing with Caseyville Mayor Len Black. At one point in the video, The mayor tells Alverez “I’m sure you ought to be proud of the way you’re acting in front of this crowd as our chief”.

The mayor has fired Alvarez twice, but he was rehired by the board both times.  The public meeting that the outburst happened at is a meeting where the chief was reinstated.

Alverez’s court date is set for late May.
