(KMOV.com) -- Crestwood Police arrested a 35-year-old California man Tuesday afternoon and rescued the 13-year-old girl from Michigan he was accused of kidnapping.

According to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department in Michigan, Rachael Marie Baker went missing Tuesday morning.

Police tracked them down at a gas station on Big Bend just off of Interstate 44.

Michigan authorities informed Crestwood Police the suspect, Joseph Young Arpin, was in the area.

Police were able to use Arpin’s cell phone signal to get a general location of where he might be.

To get their man, police had to act quickly, and they did. It took less than an hour from when local police got the message to when they arrested the suspect.

“It was just a team effort,” said Crestwood Police Chief Michael Pailou. “The parking lot got very full of Crestwood cars and Kirwkwood cars immediately. There was no where to hide. He wasn’t going to go anywhere.”

Pailou says the teenage girl should be reunited with her family by tomorrow.
