Lawyer of former city official who admitted to stealing may ask for charges to be dropped

DIXON, IL (KMOV.com) –  An Attorney for a former city comptroller who admitted to stealing $53 million from her hometown may ask for some of the charges against her to be dropped.

In federal court proceedings, Rita Crundwell admitted to stealing more than $53 million from Dixon, IL. Crundwell is also facing similar accusations from the state of Illinois.

Reportedly, Crundwell’s attorney may ask Illinois to drop the state charges. She is scheduled to be sentenced in a federal court in February, 2013.
