ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – A man has been charged with trying to set a small fire that broke out at a business office in north St. Louis early Tuesday.
Richard Williamson, 31, was charged with second-degree attempted arson and armed criminal action.
Police said Williamson on June 16 walked up to the 21st Ward Community Office in the 4200 block of Natural Bridge around 4:35 a.m.
Police said he then poured gasoline into the building’s mail slot and tried to light the liquid before fleeing the scene.
Police said a suspect successfully started a fire at the same location on June 19, but authorities have yet to arrest anyone in that incident.
Williamson's bond was set at $50,000 cash-only.
