(KMOV) – A man has been arrested after he allegedly burglarized two homes in Arnold in early July.

The incidents occurred in the 300 block of Marilyn Drive on July 2 and July 3.

The suspect has been identified as 23-year-old Michael Mooney.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, between 10:30 p.m. July 2 and 10:00 a.m. July 3, Mooney entered a home through an open garage while the victims were home. He stole about $3,000 worth of items including fishing equipment and tools.

On the morning of July 3, Mooney allegedly forced open a basement window of another home and took several bottles of alcohol valued at $250.

The victim was home at the time of the incident and confronted the suspect. Mooney dropped the bottles and fled the scene. He was arrested a short time later.

Officials say items stolen from the garage were recovered and returned to the owner.

Police will seek burglary charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
