ST.LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- St. Louis City Police are investigating an armed robbery in downtown after the three victims ran to Ballpark Village late Thursday night.

At 10:24 p.m., two men with guns held up three men in the 500 block of Locust, according to police. Police say the three victims in their 20s were ordered to put money and their phones on the ground by the two suspects. The victims complied and were told by the suspects to run from the location.

Police describe the suspects as black males, between 18 and 20-years-old. They say one suspect is 5-foot-9, approximately 120 pounds, short hair and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and khaki cargo shorts. Police say the other suspect is 6 foot, approximately 120 pounds, has a goatee, short hair and was last seen wearing a light blue t-shirt.

New crime statistics for July show that armed robberies are up 300 percent compared to last year, and assault with a gun is up 700 percent since the same time last year.

"With all the money coming in here ... it seems like the security would be paramount," said one resident.

Ballpark Village representatives said they are reevaluating their own security measures to keep patrons safe.

No injuries were reported. If you have any information, you are asked to call the St. Louis Police Department.
