(KMOV.com) – A St. Louis teen has been convicted of stealing a car with two young children inside.

Authorities said then-15-year-old Cameron Coleman approached a Jeep in the Baden Neighborhood on May 6, 2012.

Coleman reportedly told the father to get out of the car while pointing a gun at him. The victim complied and franticially tried to get his children, ages 6 and 4, out of the car.

As Coleman tried to drive off in the stolen vehicle, the victim was able to free his children.

Two days later, police saw the stolen Jeep and attempted to pull it over. Coleman led police on a pursuit, and then fled from the vehicle on foot. A police canine tracked Coleman’s scent to a stairwell, where he was found and arrested.

Cameron Coleman was certified as an adult and charged with first degree robbery, armed criminal action and resisting arrest. He plead guilty to all charges and will be sentenced May 5.
