(KMOV) --An elderly Affton woman was robbed of her Christmas cash, by a pair of handymen she let inside her house.
“It makes me sick,” said 75 year-old Patty Brose.
Brose has to use a walker or wheelchair to get around. So when two handymen came to her door offering to do odd jobs, she let them.
But Brose’ daughter Margaret Wilke said it’s clear; they weren’t there to lend a helping hand, they wanted to help themselves.
“I guess he found her wallet sitting there,” Wilke said.
When Brose was out of the room fetching a screwdriver they said they needed, the men allegedly slipped all of her cash from her wallet and a nearby envelope into their pockets.
“It’s really sad because she needs the money too,” said Wilke.
Brose, who is on a fixed income, had intended the cash for Christmas presents and fun times with family.
Now, Wilke just wants others to beware.
“It could have been worse they could have hurt her or I don’t know what,” Wilke said.
