(KMOV) -- A broken down van on the side of the road turned out to be a trap for one St. Louis Good Samaritan.

St. Louis Police said a 50-year-old man claimed he was robbed at gun point by two men, who appeared to have a broken down van, and needed help. It happened in the 2300 block of North Broadway on Saturday afternoon.

The victim told police he pulled his car to the side of the road to help. When he got out of his car, one of the men approached him and showed a gun, demanding money. The other man went through the victim’s pockets and took money. The two suspects then got in the van and drove away. The victim was not injured.

This situation has many people thinking twice before jumping to help.

“At night I would think twice, but during the broad daylight, you wouldn't think someone would be that bold,” said Angela Thomas, a St. Louis resident.

Police are still investigating the incident.
