(KMOV) – A woman faces felony charges after she was seen taking money from the donation jar at an Edwardsville church in late October.

Danielle Hindelang, 20, was charged with felony burglary.

According to officials, Hindelang entered the First Baptist Church in the 500 block of St. Louis St. around 7:20 p.m. Oct. 31.

Police say Hindelang was in the process of taking money from a jar in a back office when a church member spotted her.

Authorities say the witness confronted Hindelang and she left the church. Police say that person then called police.

Police say officers called Hindelang and she later turned herself in to the Edwardsville Police Department.

Hindelang told officers she was taking money from the church so she could buy a pack of cigarettes. She was taken into custody on a $50,000 bond.
