ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – A convicted felon has been charged with shooting a woman in north St. Louis on Saturday.
Mario Rhodes was charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and third-degree assault.
Police said Rhodes approached three people in the 4400 block of Farlin and struck a woman in the face and told them to get off his block.
According to police, Rhodes left the scene for a moment, then came back and shot the woman in the chest.
Police said Rhodes pointed the gun at the other two in the group, but they were able to wrestle it away. Other people on the street prevented the other two from restraining Rhodes, who fled the scene with his gun.
The woman was transported to the hospital, where she remains in stable condition.
According to court records, Rhodes has been convicted of five felonies since March, 2002
