ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Authorities are investigating after two people were injured and six were killed during a violent 24 hours in St. Louis.
The first shooting took place around 3:00 p.m. when St. Louis Police say bullets from assault style weapons pierced through several cars as they waited for a traffic light at Adelaide and Hall in north St. Louis. According to witnesses, two men hopped out of a black, or silver, Dodge Charger and started firing shots as vehicles came over the hill.
Police say Donnie White, 50, from Florissant, Missouri, was a passenger in a car when he was shot in the head, he was pronounced dead at a hospital following the incident. A 28-year-old man in a separate vehicle was shot in the arm and taken to an area hospital in serious, stable condition. In a different vehicle, a 43-year-old man sustained injuries believed to be from glass. The third victim was treated and released from an area hospital following the incident.
Authorities believe the suspects in the Adelaide and Hall shooting may be wanted for stealing a car from Hazelwood on Wednesday, then committing several crimes in Illinois. Sources say the suspects are also believed to have stolen diamond earrings Thursday morning in Creve Couer, hours before the shooting in North City.
Less than four hours later, homicide deceives were called to an apartment complex at 20th and Madison, just north of downtown, after a man’s body was found in a burned car. A neighbor says the car was engulfed in flames when authorities arrived on the scene.
Once authorities extinguished the fire, it was discovered the victim had a gunshot wound to his head.
The third homicide of the night happened on Interstate 70 just before 8 p.m. Police say a woman was driving eastbound near Grand when a car pulled up alongside the her and opened fire. The woman suffered gunshot wounds to her buttocks, upper chest and arm before the car came to a rest on the center median of the interstate.
Authorities say she was rushed to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Around 9:30 p.m., 17-year-old Jared Elam was found dead in an alley in the 4200 block of Obear. Witnesses told police they saw a pickup truck stop near Elam, then they heard gunshots.
Police say Elam died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Friday morning, homicide detectives were called to Julian and Goodfellow in north St. Louis where two people were found dead of gunshot wounds before 9:00 a.m.
Police say both victims are black males either in their late 20’s or early 30’s.
