Man charged with sexual abuse of child on a Metro East school bus

(KMOV.com) – Police have charged a man with criminal sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of a child following an investigation into an incident that happened on a Metro East school bus.

According to the Collinsville Police Department, on April 3 the Collinsville School District received a complaint of possible inappropriate contact between an adult bus monitor and a child. Police say that the bus monitor was employed by First Student. 

On Thursday, Police charged Thomas R. Hartsoe, 76, of Fairmont City with aggravated criminal sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of a child. Hartose’s bond was set at $200,000. Harstoe turned himself into police around 4:30 p.m. Harstoe's family told News 4 that the accusations are false.
