CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Sexual assault detectives tracked down a Charlotte man accused of human trafficking and prostitution charges.

Officers found 30-year-old Tony Drum, along with one of his alleged victims, inside of a vehicle in the 6100 block of Wilkinson Boulevard Tuesday.

Detectives say Drum met a minor female living in South Carolina in an online chat-room. He drove to pick up the victim in August and then forced her into prostitution, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

An officer says he later noticed the victim while she was walking alone and questioned her. Through the interview, he realized she was listed as a missing person. The police department says her answers also led him to believe she was a possible victim of human trafficking.

Detectives gathered alleged evidence against Drum, allowing them to secure warrants for his arrest. The department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team found Drum inside the vehicle with a second victim early Tuesday morning.

Investigators say Drum admitted to meeting both victims online and bringing them to Charlotte in order to force them into prostitution. He faces several charges, including human trafficking of children victims and facilitating a minor’s prostitution.

Anyone with more information should call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
