EAST CARONDELET, Ill. (KMOV.com) – A man and woman are accused of convincing an 11-year-old girl to make a false police report about an attempted abduction in East Carondelet on Sunday.

Tony Johnson, 23, and Marlona Pollard, 19, were both charged with felony disorderly conduct and filing a false police report.

Police initially received a call from an 11-year-old girl saying she and her 19-year-old sister were walking in a park near the intersection of South 7th and Eddy around 7:45 p.m. Sunday. She told police a man approached them and tried to grab the 11-year-old.

The town’s mayor, Herb Simmons, later News 4 the results of an investigation proved the girls’ claims to be unfounded.

Both suspects were being held Monday at the St. Clair County Jail.

Pollard’s bail was set at $20,000 and a bond of $40,000 was given to Johnson.
