(KMOV.com) – A man is in custody after trying to flee a traffic stop and hitting another vehicle late Thursday night in St. Louis.

Police say they attempted to pull over a Pontiac Grand Prix for a traffic stop near 14th and Cole at 11:40 p.m. The driver of the Grand Prix attempted to flee officers and pulled into a nearby intersection where it struck a suburban.

According to police, the 22-year-old driver of the Grand Prix tried fleeing the scene on foot following the collision but was taken into custody.

Police say the driver of the Pontiac Grand Prix and the 28-year-old driver of the Suburban both sustained serious injuries and were transported to an area hospital where they are listed in stable condition.
