(KMOV.com) – The Jamestown Mall was forced to close Wednesday because temperatures inside the building were too cold.
Officials said the shopping center has had no gas service since May because its gas bills had not been paid. According to St. Louis County authorities, many of the stores inside the mall are heated by electricity but the center’s common areas are heated by gas.
St. Louis County Department of Public Works’ David Wrone said inspectors registered a temperature of 45 degrees Wednesday. Under county codes, the mall’s temperature must be 68 degrees or above.
County inspectors said mall management told them the gas service should be restored by Saturday.
