(KMOV) – According to the National Retail Federation, holiday sales in malls and stores are both reaching new records of $469 billion dollars. The biggest spike in spending occurred during the week of Super Saturday, the second largest shopping day of the year. Analysts project even larger revenues over Friday evening and Christmas Eve, which fall over a weekend.

Overall, St. Louis retailers are optimistic that by holding longer holiday shopping hours, the better the results will be for the local economy.
