(KMOV.com) -- Two accidents on Interstate 270 caused major problems for drivers and backed up traffic for miles.
Crews were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle accident around 6 a.m. on Friday at I-270 and Gravois. Highway patrol officers said a dump truck, tractor trailer and a car were involved.
The tractor trailer's fuel tanks were damaged in the accident and police said they had to call in a sand truck to help control the amount of fuel leaking onto the highway. One minor injury was reported. When crews were clearing the accident, traffic was backed up for miles. Police had to divert traffic off I-270 at Dougherty Ferry Road until the scene was cleared.
Another accident near Manchester Road on northbound I-270 had traffic moving slowly. Police said four cars were involved and the far left lanes were blocked as crews cleared the wreckage. No injuries were reported in this accident.
Crews worked quickly to clear both accident and all lanes have reopened.
