(KMOV) – Christopher Coleman’s former neighbor says seeing the murder scene after the triple murder of Coleman’s wife and two sons was like “staring Satan right in the face.”

Neighbor Justin Barlow says there’s not a day that goes by that he doesn’t think about the murder scene of Sheri, Garrett and Gavin Coleman. He and another officer were the first to find the victims.

The spray-painted images on the wall of the Coleman home are burned into Barlow’s mind. Moments after seeing graffiti like “you have paid” in May 2009, Barlow and another officer ran into the bedrooms and found the strangled bodies of Coleman’s wife and sons.

When Coleman arrived home minutes later, Barlow says he was surprised when Coleman made no attempt to get past police when he was told his family was dead.

Coleman was already a suspect when he started a six hour interview with Barlow and Sgt. Dave Bivens. They caught him in several lies, including denying an affair with Florida waitress Tara Lintz.

Barlow gives most of the credit for this investigation to the Major Case Squad, and to his former boss and coworkers at the Columbia Police Department.

He says he does not believe Coleman will win a new trial, but if he does, he says all the evidence points to no one other than Christopher Coleman.
