WATERLOO, Ill. (AP) -- A southwestern Illinois man accused of strangling his wife and their two sons in 2009 could soon go to trial.

Thirty-four-year-old Christopher Coleman is scheduled to have what could be his final pre-trial hearing Monday in Monroe County, where he's being held without bond on first-degree murder charges.

Coleman has pleaded not guilty, and jury selection is scheduled to begin next week.

During Monday's hearing, a judge is expected to decide whether a forensic linguist can testify at trial about what he says are similarities in language patterns between emails Coleman apparently wrote and threatening letters sent to his home before the killings.

Authorities suspect Coleman sent the letters to himself to make it appear a stalker carried out the killings.
