The company is refunding $200 million to more than three-and a half million customers.
A joint investigation by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the FDIC found Discover’s phone reps tricked customers into purchasing add-ons like identity theft protection, and credit score tracking.
Telemarketers implied the benefits were free—but they weren’t.
