(KMOV) – The JCPenney outlet store in Jamestown Mall says it will be closing its doors, creating another major setback for the sparsely populated shopping center.
Sources say this news will not derail plans to redevelop Jamestown Mall, but losing the JCPenney store is certainly not a step in the right direction.
The store has been an anchor in the mall for some time. But JCPenney is closing the store in an effort to save money, targeting stores across the country.
Currently, the St. Louis County Economic Council is looking for ways to inject new life into the mall by hiring a consultant to draw up a plan. It is unclear how the JCPenney store closing will affect future plans.
