(KMOV) -- News 4 has requested information pertaining to Missouri's top food stamp recipients.
According to the Missouri Department of Social Services, one household received $2,476 in November of 2010 for 31 people. In January of 2011 one household received $2,185 for 19 people.
The Department of Social Services declined interview requests, and would not explain whether the individuals in these households are related. Missouri spends $50 million each year to administer the program.
News 4 also asked which Missouri retailers process the most food stamp transactions, but according to a letter from the USDA that information will not be made public.
The state of Missouri process millions of food stamp transactions each month, but only 20 people to investigate food stamp fraud. In 2010, there were 22 people prosecuted for food stamp fraud.
