(KMOV) -- Did you feel the earth move again Monday morning?

Another earthquake shook the St. Louis area, this one centered much closer to the bi-state.

It hit just before 6:30 a.m. on Monday with a magnitude 2.7.

The epicenter is just about three miles south-southeast of Fenton, MO.

This appears to be separate from the big quake that hit the area last month.

This earthquake’s epicenter is about 140 miles from the center of the original quake and aftershocks.

In California the quakes are different, they are more dangerous here. If a 6.0 or greater were to occur, I believe there would be wide spread damage.

I live about nine miles past DeSoto and I felt it. It was about 6:25am. I was watching TV - it last about 5 seconds. Was not strong enough to wake my daughter this time and didn't last nearly as long.

I thought it might have been a heavy truck.

Yes i felt the earh very well, i felt the heavy shaking an all.

I heard the rumble too

We live outside Pevely. We live near the RRtracks. I thought it was a train, but it was not the train schedule. I felt and heard it.

I live in Affton in the 63123 zip code. I heard a 2-3 second rumble and then the house rattled one time. Somehow, I knew exactly what it was-the 5.2 one had awakened me.

Yes, we live in Ballwin. The bed was shaking again and it lasted too long for it to be a truck going by. Also, it sounded like the wind was blowing but the trees weren't moving. That is when I knew it was an earthquake. What is that phenomenon anyway? Why does it sound like a rushing wind?
I turned on the news and nothing. I thought it was just me then. But I went downstairs and my husband asked if I had felt the earthquake. My mom, who lives in St. Charles, did not feel anything.

No, and I live in Sunset Hills

I heard the rumble coming first, then I felt a slight shaking and my windows rattled.

I didn't feel it but the sound made me jump out of bed to look outside. It sounded like the roar of a hot air balloon firing up the gas, about 25 feet over my house. Hot air balloons do pass over our house occasionally, and one actually landed in my neighbors yard once.

I thought a heavy truck was passing in front of house or thunder, my chair vibrated and I thought I wonder if that was an earthquake?

It was quick but definitely felt the quake.

I was laying in bed and heard the rumble and then felt it. I was wondering was it an earthquake or was it a natural gas explosion. Well, of course it turned out to be an earthquake.3 out of 4 of our family felt it. We live in Concord Village.

My dog began whinning. I thought maybe she had to go "outside" but then she began barking. The rumbling and shaking lasted about 5 or 6 seconds. I was stunned that we had yet another earthquake. It is almost becoming a regularity in Fenton. Just wondering whats next???

We live in Festus. I was in the living room and heard it but didn't feel it. My husband was in the kitchen, and he felt it and heard the dishes rattle in the cupboard. Another person mentioned something in the middle of the night. I didn't look at the time, but I woke up in the night and though I heard another quake. It sounds like a large truck going by on the road, but there's no truck sounds (motor or shifting gears) with it.

I was lying on my water bed and it started moving. Didn't hear any noise. I looked at the clock and wondered if I got up and turned on the news if they would say anything about an earthquake. Turned on KMOV and they were talking about an earthquake!! I live in Belle, Missouri at the Maries and Osage County line.

I just knew this one had to be either a bigger earthquake, or closer than the "big" one a couple of weeks ago. I was in my house in Crestwood, just southeast of I-270 and I-44, and it made a distinct low rumbing sound, like a distant jet taking off or an explosion. I thought I may have been another house explosion, but the rumbling lasted too long to be a quick explosion. After a tense 10 seconds or so, the rumbling dissipated. I felt the other one, and heard my house creak, but there wasn't the low rumbling that this one had. It was a bit frightening for just a few, short seconds.

I was home at the time and did not feel a blessed thing.

It was not as strong as the 1st one we felt, I knew it was different. Another part of our home shook.
