(KMOV) - Some St. Louis job searchers are turning to a new method to find that perfect fit.

They’re trading in the want ads for a more personalized approach.

Shelly Kramer’s series of jobs always seemed to leave her zapped of energy, even depressed.

"I was sending out resumes on monster and from the paper and getting no response and wondering why," said job seeker Shelly Kramer.

Enter David Hults, a career coach.

"I take people through methodology, look at who you are as a individual," said Hults.

"Those things that come naturally for people and that enjoy doing, many times they take that for granted and we think everybody can do that everybody can’t do those things," he added.

Hults and Activ8 Career Coaching takes that information and helps the client articulate it.

Then, throw out the job interview concept.

Instead, "fact find" with others who possibly can help.

"A lot of my clients come back and say you wont believe this but they're my cheerleader and they're going to open this door and this door and this door and the reason they're doing it is because that individual got what they value was of that individual," said Hults.

Kramer now works in marketing.

"I’m surprised that I’m working in a big company. I love it. I actually called David the other day on a Friday and I said I’m leaving work and I don’t want to. I love what I’m doing," added Kramer.

Career coaching generally takes place over a number of months and fees vary, depending on the project.
