(KMOV.com)- The Town and Country Police Department believe they have caught the man responsible for the fatal traffic crash in Town and Country.

George Putney, 52, of the 1300 block of Forrest Lane, is currently being held at the St. Louis County Justice Center on $15,000 bond for his involvement in the fatal accident that killed Ciby Kimbrough, 70.

Putney’s arrest follows the January 26 accident where authorities believe Putney’s GMC Envoy crossed the double yellow centerline, near Town and Country, and crashed into a Volvo Sedan killing the driver, Kimbrough.

After the accident, Putney fled the scene of the crash on foot after his vehicle stalled on the roadway, several hundred yards from the scene.

Prior to proceeding with more serious charges against Putney, the Town and Country Police Department needs the public for assistance with creating a timeline for Putney’s whereabouts prior to the accident.

Investigators are more specifically interested in the hours leading up to the evening crash, information that may place Putney at area bars, casinos, etc.

Individuals with information may contact Detective Sgt. Rick Kranz 314-568-1453.
