Hi, it's Aja here, with a totally functional and necessary DIY project for you guys.
With little bitty feet in the house comes little bitty socks. Socks that are all too easy to misplace and go missing into the deep depths of laundry despair that is our home. I knew I needed some sort of system to help me keep track of the pair-less socks floating around and this is what I came up with. A 'Lost Socks' sign for our laundry room. Want to make one too?
Here's what you'll need:
1. Wooden plaque or sign (or even a canvas)
2. Clothes pins
4. Paint Pen
5. Glue gun
I started by painting my wooden plaque. This was some random clearance purchase from TJ Maxx, I believe. It started off light blue with some fun saying like "Gone Fishin".. not my cup of tea, but for $1.27 on clearance, I knew it could easily be repurposed. If you want to paint your clothes pins, do that now, too. I went the easy route with white spray paint.
Now take your paint pen (found in an array of colors at any craft store. Love these things) and write Lost Socks across the top of your sign. You might want to use a pencil to lightly sketch it out first. OR, if you don't trust your handwriting, you could use a stencil or even stickers.
Next just use your glue gun to glue the clothes pins in place.
That's it! So easy.
This now hangs in my laundry room and any time I come across a lone sock, it gets hung on the wall of shame. :) Then when I come across its pair, 5 months later, it's like a reunion straight off of The Bachelorette and all is right in the world.
