St. Louis men accused of abusing 15-year-old boy

Two St. Louis men are accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy. Prosecutors have charged 34-year-old Bobby Plain and 42-year-old Kurt Carson with three counts of second-degree statutory sodomy and one count of sexual exploitation of a minor. Both are jailed on $200,000 bond.

Police arrest husband in shooting death of wife

St. Louis County Police have arrested a man in connection with the death of his wife. Harrison Flowers, 35, is charged with Murder in the Second Degree and Armed Criminal Action. Latasha Flowers, 29, was shot in the arm and face at their home on Saturday, June 27th.

Authorities say a 57-year-old southern Illinois man died in a weekend accident involving a chain saw on his property.

* Mother's boyfriend charged in 2-year-old child's death
A 2-year-old child is dead, and the boyfriend of the toddler's mother is charged with first-degree murder and other counts. St. Louis police say an ambulance was called Saturday morning after someone at an apartment called to say 2-year-old Samar Brown was not breathing.

Dog rescued from inside 105-degree car
The Humane Society of Missouri said a pitbull was rescued Saturday from a car that had an internal temperature of 105 degrees. The dog's owners were eating inside a nearby restaurant.

* New spending close to Missouri budget cuts
Last week, Gov. Jay Nixon vetoed $105 million from the 2010 budget taking effect Wednesday. Calling the cuts a "near record," Nixon said they were needed to preserve state support for health care, education and economic development. But the money-saving vetoes were nearly offset by the $95 million cost of Nixon's marquee new programs.
