05:54 PM CDT on Friday, August 8, 2008
ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- Police, politicians and community leaders are joining forces to make Metro stops safer in St. Louis City, University City and surrounding areas. They insist none of the attacks was gang-related.
St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay says he believes some of the juveniles are from local neighborhoods and actually organized their attacks using the Internet.
Investigators have four juveniles in custody and recovered two guns following the two attacks. Now offers are stepping up efforts to keep those stops safe.
"We will increase the number of officers and have random patrol for a couple of months in that area,” Metro security spokesperson Willie McCuller said.
Metro security guards plan to use decoys and a police helicopter to help respond to Metro stops.
