Member of Busch family writes letter to shareholders
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The battle for Anheuser-Busch is now in federal court.
The St. Louis-based beer maker is fighting a hostile takeover bid by Belgian brewing giant InBev. Anheuser-Busch's board of directors has rejected InBev's 46 billion dollar bid inadequate.
Both companies have now gone to court over the matter.
Anheuser-Busch filed suit yesterday asking a judge to block InBev from making any more solicitations to its shareholders. The St. Louis company also says InBev concealed the fact that it does business in Cuba, which could complicate its efforts to operate in the United States.
InBev has filed its own motion seeking to oust Anheuser-Busch's board of directors and replace it with a friendlier board.
