Puppy rescued from asphalt pit in Madison County dies
03:13 PM CDT on Thursday, June 26, 2008
Extended interview with animal shelter workers
(KMOV) -- The six-month-old puppy that Madison County animal control workers rescued earlier this week, died early Thursday morning.
The puppy, a lab-mix named Ashley, was found on Tuesday in an asphalt pit in Roxana, IL.
She was completely covered and had to be removed by being cut out of the pit.
Ashley was taken to Partners4Pets, a no kill shelter in Troy, IL, but died later due to her injuries.
Volunteers from the shelter spent several hours removing the asphalt.
Ashley had to be sedated due to the severity of the injuries and the asphalt caused her to lose most of her fur.
