06:32 PM CDT on Thursday, June 12, 2008
St. Louis (KMOV) -- Police and gas station clerks across the Metro East are on the look out for a man they say is stealing gas then reselling it out of the back of a pick up truck.
On Wednesday, investigators charged Brandon Greco, 27, with felony theft for stealing from six gas stations in the area, including Collinsville, Edwardsville, Hamel and three gas stations in Glen Carbon.
There is no word on Greco’s whereabouts.
At least one clerk had to personally pay for the stolen gas.
Police said surveillance video shows the suspect filling up a number of fuel containers in the back of his truck.
Investigators said Greco brings the gas to Venice, Ill. and sells it out of his truck.
According to authorities, Greco drives a red Ford F-150 pickup truck with Illinois plates. The vehicle does not have a front plate and has a large dent on the front bumper.
