Watch extended interview with local doctor

(KMOV) -- Within the last few weeks staff at Barnes Jewish told News 4 they're seeing an alarming change in the type of gun shot wounds in the emergency room.

These injuries now have some physicians speculating that there are assault weapons on the street.

News 4 checked with the St. Louis city police and they said that in the last ten days we've had two incidents with assault weapons.

In both cases the victims died.
