08:58 AM CDT on Friday, July 27, 2007
(KMOV) - A local high school football coach is suspended from his job and is facing sex abuse charges.
A midnight patrol in Godfrey led to a high-speed chase and capture of Tom Pagliaro.
The 32-year-old high school football coach was found in his car with a 16-year-old girl.
He's now charged with felony sexual abuse.
Pagliaro most recently coached football for at least two seasons at Marquette Catholic High School in Alton.
He was recently hired as a football coach and special education teacher at the high school in Highland, Illinois, according to the superintendent.
Sgt. Mike Dixon says Pagliaro is accused of fondling the victim above the waist.
The superintendent of the Highland School District tells News 4, Pagliaro was scheduled to start as football coach this season.
Pagliaro is out of jail after posting a $ 75,000 bond.
