Campers learn the ropes of Rock ānā Roll at Camp Jam
07:27 PM CDT on Tuesday, July 10, 2007
(KMOV) -- Summer camp used to mean swimming and arts and crafts.
These days it also means hot guitar licks, along with screaming amplifiers and tearing up the skins.
This new definition of summer camp can be found at Camp Jam.
In five days most of the kids will go from being total strangers to rocking out in a Friday night concert.
Camp Jam is a school of rock open to students from 7 to 17.
On Monday, they're grouped together in bands and they perform just five days later.
Through the week the students learn songwriting, how to run a rehearsal, how to perform and how to cooperate.
