(KMOV) – Jeff Laughlin of Chesterfield tells News 4 exciting news about “L6,” the popular organization he founded to help his injured wife.

News 4 over the years has covered the story of Laura Laughlin, a young woman who suffered severe brain trauma and passed away in February 2007.
The Laughlins were newlyweds, when Laura suffered severe injuries after a car accident in the summer of 2005.
Her story gripped the St. Louis community, and now her husband has told News 4’s, Donna Savarese that his foundation is now a non-profit organization.
Jeff says that because of the tremendous outpouring of support through his website, it has enabled him to turn his wife's injury and death into a chance to help others.
Amy Bratton, the non-profit's president, has helped to secure non-profit status in Missouri, and is currently applying for federal status.
Jeff hopes the well-attended fundraisers for Laura will happen again this year to benefit the non-profit organization.
The non-profit is officially called the Laura K. Laughlin Brain Injury Foundation. The new website will be up and running in a week. Viewers can visit the organization’s Myspace page as well as Jeff’s original website.
Jeff says hopes the organization will become a national leader in fighting brain injuries.
