(KMOV) - The search is underway for the suspect who shot and injured a St. Louis police officer.
The incident happened early this morning in north St. Louis on Lee Avenue.
Authorities say around 2:30 a.m., a uniformed officer was driving a marked car on regular patrol when a suspect ambushed the officer.
The suspects fired 14 rounds at the officer.
The officer was hit by two of the shots, once in the chin and once in the shoulder.
The officer is an 18-year veteran of the department. He is now being treated at Barnes Jewish Hospital and his injuries are non-life threatening.
Police are still seeking the suspect. They have set up a perimeter at the shooting scene and are going door to door looking for the suspect.
