(KMOV) -- Anti-abortionists were granted a temporary ruling allowing them to hold up graphic posters at a parade in Granite City.

To anti abortionists like Daniel Michael no event is sacred for a protest. Not even the usually g-rated family friendly Labor Day parade in downtown Granite City.

“Granite City was once know for its towering steel mills now its known as the murder Mecca of the Midwest,” said Daniel Michael.

The town tried to ban displays too graphic to show on television by passing a law outlawing posters larger than 8 1/2 by 11 along the parade route.  But a judge's injunction found the protestors have a right to be here.

Some of the people upset by the group's posters are pro-life themselves.

“I’m pro-life but come on, little kids why should they have to see this stuff,” said one person at the parade.

Next year some parade goers are asking that warning signs be posted at least 1 to 2 blocks off the route warning parents that their children will be exposed to these images

As for Michaels who have 11 kids, it’s never too early to share with kids the reality of what an aborted fetus looks like.

The Michael’s have filed a lawsuit against Granite City.

The case is headed to federal court and could lead to a more permanent and binding resolution on their right to display their posters in public places.
