Visa debit customers could see larger holds at gas pumps
03:51 PM CDT on Saturday, October 4, 2008
ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- A new rule will impact Visa debit card customers who use their card at a gas station pump.
Some gas stations will hold a higher amount -- in some cases $500 -- above the amount of pumped gas.
The hold will be placed on the customer’s card for two hours.
Under old rules, gas stations could hold an extra dollar to $75 for up to two days.
If a gas station is still working under the old rules, customers could be vulnerable to large overdraft fees.
