Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales at new MO farm

10:54 AM CST on Thursday, November 27, 2008

OVERTON, Mo. (AP) -- About 100 Clydesdales -- the longtime symbol of Anheuser-Busch beers -- have arrived at the brewer's new 350-acre farm in Missouri.

The farm sits on a bluff along the Missouri River in Cooper County, opposite the town of Overton. When the it reaches full capacity with 150 horses, it will be Anheuser-Busch's largest breeding facility in the world.

Regarding InBev's recent purchase of the St. Louis-based brewer, the Clydesdales are expected to remain a symbol for Budweiser and other Anheuser-Busch products.

The brewer has been secretive about its 2006 purchase of the property, and a media tour this week provided a rare glimpse at the farm. Jim Poole, general manager of Clydesdale operations for Anheuser-Busch, said the farm will not be open to the public but may be used to shoot commercials.
